The Name She Almost Forgot
Sarah's mother had been forgetting names for a while โ first distant relatives, then old friends, and one Tuesday, Sarah's own. She didn't get angry. She went to her desk and ordered a heart pendant with her mother's full name, the way it sounded when her grandmother still called her by it.
Two weeks later she clipped it around her mother's neck. Her mother ran a finger over the letters, smiled, and said, "That's me." She says it every morning now, when she fastens the clasp herself.
